🐷Ground pig– जमीन में रहने वाला शुगर🐷

 ★विचित्र जंतु आर्डवार्क (Aardvark) अफ्रीका में पाया जाता है। आर्डवार्क डच भाषा का शब्द है। जिसका मतलब है 'जमीन में रहने वाला सुअर।' इसका यूथन सुअर जैसा होने पर भी सुअर से दूर-दूर तक इसका कोई रिश्ता नहीं है। कान गधे जैसे होते हैं और पूंछ कंगारू जैसी होती है। इसकी टांगें छोटी, नख पुष्ट, खाल मोटी और शरीर पर छितरे हुए बाल होते हैं। इसका लंबा, नुकीला थूथन और लसदार जीभ देखकर तुरंत पता चल जाता है कि यह बड़े चींटीखोर का सम्बन्धी है।

आर्डवार्क के शरीर की लंबाई दुम सहित लगभग 6 फुट (180 सेमी.) होती है। दुम 2 फुट (60 सेमी.) और ऊंचाई भी 2 फुट होती है। आर्डवार्क जमीन में 3 मीटर लंबा बिल खोद लेता है और उसमें रहता है। जब भी शिकारी इसकी मांद को खोदकर इसे निकालना चाहते हैं, तो यह तुरंत दूसरा रास्ता खोदकर भाग जाता है। यह दिन भर अपनी मांद में ही रहता है। रात को बाहर आकर दीमक की खोज में - निकलता है। अपने मजबूत नखों से यह दीमक के बड़े-बड़े घरों को खोद डालता है। दीमक खाते-खाते इसका मांस तक खट्टा हो जाता है। फिर भी हाटेन्टॉट जाति के लोग इसका शिकार करते हैं और मांस खाते हैं। उल्लू और चमगादड़ की तरहयह निशाचर ही है। इसे पकड़ पाना मुश्किल होता है। खतरे के समय यह अपनी पिछली टांगों पर खड़ा होकर लड़ भी लेता है।
